Essay Topics - Why Using an If/Then Is Important
Essay Topics - Why Using an If/Then Is ImportantWhile it is not always necessary to include a 'then'if' statement in your essay, students will tend to pay less attention to the first paragraph of your essay if you do. Why? Students are more likely to give more attention to the last sentence of your essay. Why is that? Because if/then statements look like the answers to a statement, which is what students are likely to be thinking while reading an essay. The last sentence also includes a statement. While you may have used an if, you might want to consider using a then as your ending statement.If/then essay topics can include other topics. For example, you could write about your interest in landscape architecture, but if your interest lies in shipping technology, write about those topics. It would make your essay shorter, but it would be more interesting and your essay topic would be more related to your intended topic. There are a few reasons why readers focus on the last statement of a n essay. One reason is the fact that this is the place where the writer is drawing attention to themselves. When writing about a topic that readers might not have heard about, they tend to read more closely to make sure they understand the writer's point.Another reason that the last sentence is so often clicked is because readers tend to use a lot of their active voice in writing. When a writer uses an action word or creates words that will evoke action, readers are more likely to click. This is even true for readers who do not write much at all.If/then essay topics are important because they allow you to get the most from your words. People who choose to go for the traditional structure of a more narrative essay, and also offer students more opportunities to stretch their words, opt for if/then statements to help them craft the perfect essay. Not all writers, however, are interested in if/then essays, which is why they select a more narrative structure for their essays. All writers will use different forms of if/then, and some form it into many of their essays. Some use if/thens as 'prelude' to further sections. Other writers use if/thens to complete main points in their essay and get to the meat of their essay. When you are considering if/then essay topics, consider how the statement will fit into your essay. Also consider the other essays that other writers are working with. These will help you in determining if the then is important or not.
